The American Revolution: God's Providence in the Battle of Saratoga

Even before the discouraging American defeat at the Battle of Brandywine, September 22, 1777, and while Whig pastors were preaching sermons predicting an imminent "signal victory," Providence was at work preparing men and armies to meet in the clash that became known as the "turning point" of the American War for Independence. Who were these men and how did God use them? What were the Providential events and circumstances which gave a fresh and vigorous impetus to the American cause?
