"I Pledge Allegiance..."
Lynn Meier

In the fall of 1892, more than twelve million American children first recited the pledge of allegiance as a part of the celebration of Columbus Day. For more than a century, the pledge has been a part of American life and an expression of American patriotism. Today, the pledge has come under attack by many who believe that it no longer reflects the American way of life and ideals. This session will provide a brief history of the pledge of allegiance, consider the Biblical principles of government expressed in its thirty-one words, and address the importance of the pledge today and for future generations of Americans.
