{"id":3555,"date":"2019-09-14T13:18:36","date_gmt":"2019-09-14T17:18:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pilgriminstitute.org\/blog\/?p=3555"},"modified":"2019-09-14T13:18:37","modified_gmt":"2019-09-14T17:18:37","slug":"celebrating-the-life-of-james-rose","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pilgriminstitute.org\/blog\/celebrating-the-life-of-james-rose\/","title":{"rendered":"Celebrating the Life of James Rose"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>September 17, 1938 \u2013 January 19, 2019<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/pilgriminstitute.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/rose-james-split-picture-3d.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3466\" width=\"430\" height=\"446\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pilgriminstitute.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/rose-james-split-picture-3d.jpg 616w, https:\/\/pilgriminstitute.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/rose-james-split-picture-3d-289x300.jpg 289w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 430px) 100vw, 430px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As we\ncommemorate Constitution Day \u2013 September 17, we also celebrate the life of Mr.\nJames Rose, born on Constitution Day, 1938.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mr. Rose lived\nin a manner that reflected His Creator and Lord. He testified faithfully to the\nremarkable Providence of God, and prompted others to do likewise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A humble\nman of faith and steadfastness, Mr. Rose lived a life of purpose, governed by\nthe principles of liberty. His goal was that others would walk in the liberty\nof the gospel and its outworkings: spiritual liberty, religious liberty, civil\nliberty, political liberty and economic liberty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To that\nend, he labored with full confidence that God would work through the hearts of\nmen to change homes, churches, classrooms, and nations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The hand\nof God in Mr. Rose\u2019s life can be seen in remarkable ways:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>In\nhis childhood, a friend invited him to attend church, where he heard the\ngospel.<\/li><li>During\ncollege, a friend invited him to drive into San Francisco where he was\nintroduced to Miss Verna Hall who was sharing the Christian history of the\nConstitution which she had researched and documented.<\/li><li>After\nserving in the U.S. Navy, he met and married a young woman who shared his love\nfor Providential history and Christian principles of government. They were\nmarried for 52 years.<\/li><li>Jim\nand Barbara waited prayerfully for children for ten years. God blessed them\nwith four children and now 29 grandchildren.<\/li><li>Encouraged\nby Miss Verna Hall and Miss Rosalie Slater, Mr. Rose led the way for all of us\nin an American Christian philosophy of history, government, and education.<\/li><li>He\nwas headmaster for the pilot demonstration school for the Principle Approach to\nAmerican Christian Education. He hired Miss Katherine Dang to teach high school\nhistory. Mr. Rose and Miss Dang provided both scholarship and leadership across\nour nation for decades.<\/li><li>Beginning\nin the 1970s, he joined with Mrs. Ruth Smith and Pilgrim Institute, as well as\nother like-minded organizations, to enlighten and equip American Christians in\nan understanding of a Biblical view of God, man, and government.<\/li><li>In\n1987, Mr. Rose published <a href=\"https:\/\/pilgriminstitute.org\/store\/a-guide-to-american-christian-education2015-05-18-03-51-34_7\"><em>A\nGuide to American Christian Education: The Principle Approach<\/em>.<\/a> Miss Rosalie Slater introduced the <em>Guide<\/em> with these words: \u201cTherefore, the\nrestoration of the Principle Approach is a major contribution of James Rose\u2019s\nministry to Christians in America who wish to once again both learn and teach\nthat Biblical philosophy of education which formed us \u2018one nation under God.\u2019\u201d<\/li><li>For\nover five decades, Mr. Rose\u2019s ministry reached families, educators, pastors,\nbusinessmen, public servants, school administrators, overseas missionaries, and\nmany others both in the U.S. and in other countries.<\/li><li>His\nloving family assisted and cared for him through the difficulties of\nParkinson\u2019s disease.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"933\" height=\"1040\" src=\"https:\/\/pilgriminstitute.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/James-Rose.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3561\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pilgriminstitute.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/James-Rose.jpg 933w, https:\/\/pilgriminstitute.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/James-Rose-269x300.jpg 269w, https:\/\/pilgriminstitute.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/James-Rose-768x856.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 933px) 100vw, 933px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">James Rose was a gracious, Christian gentleman.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"> He purposefully and intentionally encouraged others to take note of the Providence of God personally and in our nation. He practiced and taught America\u2019s historic, Biblical principles of government, and prompted countless others to do the same.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mr.\nRose advised us to remain steadfast in pursuing God\u2019s calling and purpose in\nour lives.
